Definition: | A standard phrase giving simple information about the hazards of a dangerous substance or preparation in normal use. It may be designated by the letter "R" followed by a distinguishing number or combination of numbers indicating the hazard relative to a category of danger, but it shall be quoted in full on any label or safety data sheet on which the risk phrase is required to be shown. Examples of risk phrases are: R37 = irritating to the respiratory system R20/21/22 = harmful by inhalation, in contact with the skin and if swallowed. |
