Definition: | SCBA which exhausts the exhaled air to the atmosphere instead of recirculating it. It usually consists of a cylinder of high pressure compressed air supplying air to a regulator that reduced the pressure for delivery to the facepiece. This regulator is either mounted directly to the facepiece or a flexible corrugated hose connects the regulator to the respiratory inlet covering, usually a full-facepiece. |
