Definition: | A period which is not working time, other than a rest break (in the course of a working day) or leave to which the worker is entitled. Daily rest periodsAn adult worker is entitled to a rest period of not less than eleven consecutive hours in each 24-hour period during which he works for his employer. A young worker is entitled to a rest period of not less than twelve consecutive hours in each 24-hour period during which he works for his employer. Weekly rest periodsAn adult worker is entitled to an uninterrupted rest period of not less than 24 hours in each seven-day period during which he works for his employer. A young worker is entitled to a rest period of not less than 48 hours in each seven-day period during which he works for his employer. |
